Let me say, “Help me to start the day!”
when I feel all alone, with the whole world to fight;
when all I can think about are bad things I’ve done –
Though the brutal honesty makes me want to hide!

When I feel all alone, with the whole world to fight,
God is there, with any thought, anytime, any place!
Though the brutal honesty makes me want to hide –
it is the cornerstone that clears the way ahead!

God is there, with any thought, anytime, any place –
His gifts of love, vision, and a fresh sense of hope.
It is the cornerstone that clears the way ahead –
a promise of mercy and a fresh start!

His gifts of love, vision, and a fresh sense of hope,
when all I can think about are bad things I’ve done.
A promise of mercy and a fresh start –
Let me say, “help me to start the day”!
