A reflection for Monday in Holy Week. Written 23 March 2024.

Suggested Scripture: Mark 11:15-17

The hosanna’s of yesterday have died down,
we’re back to the normal buzz of everyday life –
the demands on time and energy…
the noise of people contacting us for conversation,
so many thoughts vying for attention.

It is easy to forget to stop,
to allow the busy-ness to dominate –
until something, or someone,
comes and turns the tables,
pulling us into much needed prayer,
cleansing in us all that distracts.

As tables are turned –
everything changes,
for the money-changers, and for us…
It can be upsetting, confusing,
when a re-set is needed –
but God helps us re-emerge
refreshed, renewed, and free –
the temples of our bodies and minds
cleansed for quality time with the Lord.
